Yearly Activities of American Legion Banner Post 109

Sponsor young men from South Johnston High School, and Triton High School to attend Boys State.

Sponsor students to the Student Trooper Program in Raleigh.

Conduct Flag Retirement Ceremonies.

Present the Americanism with cash award to a senior at South Johnston High School and Triton High School.

Give a Memorial Scholarship to a South Johnston High School Senior.

Award two ROTC Metals and Certificates to two ROTC Seniors at South Johnston High School.

Contribute to Relay for Life in Johnston County for Cancer Research.

Visit the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville each quarter to furnish refreshments and cash prizes for bingo.

Collect Toys for Tots at Christmas.

Memorial Day Service at Veterans Park on Sunday before Memorial Day..

Veteran Day Service at Veterans Park at 11 a.m. on November 11 each year.

Place flags on Veterans graves at several cemeteries at Memorial Day.

Participate in Mule Day, Christmas, and Veterans Day  Parades by entering a float and carrying flags.

Make various donations to different people or organizations depending on circumstances.
